2. Course examination
At the end of the term, you will have to write a credit test which will check the progress of your independent work. Besides, to get your credit in the discipline, you are expected to do the exercises in the guides to the texts and tapes, practice the vocabulary units, keep the student’s language-learning diary.
Procedure
Step 1. Working independently in February-May, consider the information indicated in the scheme of independent work, listen to the tapes, watch the videos, accomplish independent tests and compile a file of useful information and vocabulary items.
For better time management and effective learning, we suggest a weekly step-by-step scheme of independent work in term 6 .
NB!
As you study the materials, keep the student’s language-learning diary in a notebook (See: What is a language-learning diary? ). The language-learning diary is a document to help you learn the material more effectively and focus on your objectives, and a learning style that suits your needs. It helps you to think about how you learn; it is a summary of your language learning experience; it will help you keep any evidence of the work done as well as keep your progress. This will help you to get ready for the credit in term 6 and the exam in term 7.
Step 2. Study the list of the relevant vocabulary items . Make sure you are able to explain the meaning of each item in English (consult a good English-English dictionary if necessary). Put down the definitions in English in your language-learning diary.
Step 3. In your language-learning diary, make plans and then compile the speaking points to be presented at the exam at the end of term 7.
Step 4. In your language-learning diary, make summaries and analyse the short stories to be presented at the exam at the end of term 7.
